Hey Friends! Here’s a Little About Me.

Me. Hannah Flores. Fabric Arts and Fashion Designer

I grew up in a small town in the northeast corner of Nebraska. The town I grew up in had 411 people and my family lived 4 miles outside of town. No paved roads. cattle pastures and undulating hills everywhere. The perfect place to learn my first medium of fiber art. I learned to crochet at age 6 and it quickly became one of my most favorite pastimes.

As I grew older, I became interested in all forms of art. Taking any and all classes made available. (Which wasn’t a lot in a small town school.) But I loved every one. Even taking classes with a bunch of older ladies who also wanted to learn how to make lace by tatting. I new from a young age that I wanted to design and sew clothes. I took small sewing classes from a very kind neighbor and I would submit crochet, knitting, and sewn items as a 4-H member in the county fair. I even made it to state a few times for my drawings, paintings, or crochet.

After high school, I attended college in the Textile and Fashion Design Program at the University of Nebraska. It is there that I met my best friend and former collaborator, Kylie Revense-Hancock. We found similar goals and aspirations within the fashion community. We found our greatest joy in helping people. Helping people feel seen and beautiful and valid in their being. This was not only fitting in their clothes but also be comfortable in their own personal style and in turn helping them feel 110% themselves.

That’s the beauty in fashion. Personal Expression. The different ways that this is conveyed is so specific for every person and that’s beautiful. We are all individual and unique and with fashion we get to show that through the clothes that we choose to wear.

Together we formed “R and F Designs,” which then turned to “RFLook,” which then landed on “The Badasserie Workshop.” Our designing duo showcased collections in Omaha Fashion Week in Spring and Fall of 2016, Fall of 2017.

We would make custom alterations for out clients. Learning about them and helping cultivate what they needed their clothes to say for them. People would come to us with a cherished piece of clothing and we would help find how to make the piece come back to life and be fun and exciting to wear again. It is so fulfilling to work with a client and make something that they are going to love to wear and helps their self-esteem and encourage them to live the most authentic life that they can.

They we kinda put a pause on creating together. Kylie had a family that was growing over the summer creating the Fall 2017 Collection. I was gonna be an honorary Auntie for the second time. I was putting more focus on my career outside of our little design side-hustle.

Then Covid happened and the whole world shut down.
Another thing that is incredibly important to the Badasserie Workshop is being all inclusive. No matter your size, shape, or gender, they are here for you and want to help you feel the most uniquely you. This is their greatest passion.
